McMahon Goldrick and Assistive Technology Experts (the process)
At McMahon Goldrick, every catastrophic injury case has a report prepared by an Assistive Technology expert.
The process is as follows:
- The expert will meet with the client after having considered all of the medical reports that are available to them.
- McMahon Goldrick will supply those medical reports in advance of that visit.
- After having viewed the medical reports, the visit will take place and the Assistive Technology expert will familiarise themselves with the client’s disability and also the client’s environs.
- McMahon Goldrick will also supply an Occupational Therapist report (OT report) and a housing report which will be of great assistance to the expert and will provide a thorough and clear picture of what the client’s needs are and what the client’s needs will be in the future.
- The expert will prepare a detailed report which will outline to the client the type of Assistive Technology aids that a person may require, and the report will also contain a summary and opinion. McMahon Goldrick will summarise this report and furnish it to the defendant, so they are aware of what is being claimed.
- If there is a requirement for Assistive Technology to be renewed in the future, this will be taken into account when making the claim. For example, one item may only survive for a certain length of time, so the solicitor here at McMahon Goldrick Solicitors when dealing with a catastrophic injury case will allow for the repetition of that item into the future right through to the date of death.
